a little good news is that if your files are zipped, you can recover them. if your files are stand alone in .doc or .pdf format, you can forget about recovering them unless you pay up the requested ransom.

1st step: download, install and update Malwarebytes on either your windows or mac machines.

2nd step: run and scan your machine with malwarebytes, you will be prompted to remove the malware but your files will remain encrypted or locked.
